My Big Girl!

It's official! My baby is now a big girl! I put for down for a nap and then I went to get ready. About 30 mins later I heard a door close. I walked out of our bedroom and heard "hi mama", and there was Lily standing in the hallway! The day had arrived - she had learned how to climb out of her crib.
When David got home I told her it was time to change the bed to a toddler bed. It was so much easier than we were thinking. We just had to take the front off and attach the toddler rail.

As for her sleeping, the only problem we had was getting her to go to bed the first night, but after that she has been perfect. She sleeps in it all night, she hasn't gotten out of bed except to get a dropped animal, and she doesn't even get out until we come in in the morning. I think it helps a bunch that it is the same bed just one different side.

Here's our big girl right after we got the bed together.
All smiles the next morning!

Gracie climbed in with her

Here's a shot of her big girl bed all made up!

Movie Time

Lily loves watching Toy Story, any of them. I laid her Toy Story blanket down for her to sit on while she watched her movie. Gracie joined her and they sat together for quite some time. I got some pictures of them being super sweet together!

Night Night Gracie

Every night when Lily goes to bed she takes her yo gabba gabba blanket, her pup pup, her bear blanket thing, and woody. The other night we looked over and she had covered Gracie up with her blanket, given her pup pup and bear, and told her night night. Here's the proof!
I love Gracie's face...she looks like she's thinking "seriously mom"

Unpacking

We had so many boxes in our garage that we spent an entire Saturday going through them. Lily found a box that needed inspecting.

She had lots of fun in the box until she realized I was taking pictures. I'm glad she was entertained while we worked.

New Refrigerator!!

Seems like a crazy post, but I'm so excited! We got a new refrigerator!!! Our house in Spring came with the refrigerator included, so this is the first one we got to pick out and purchase! I love it!

Beautiful Flowers

My wonderful friend, Deana, sent us flowers the Wednesday after we moved into the house. It was such a great surprise! It really made my day. I had to post pictures of them.

The roses opened up beautifully!

So Cute

Lily has a new thing where she says that things are "so cute". Her favorite thing to say this to are pictures of herself. She will let me take a picture of her and right after she will have to look at the picture. This is the point she says it is "so cute". She cracks me up! The girls were playing in the guest room while we were hanging some curtains. Here are some very cute pictures I got of them.

Day at the Farm

On the Saturday before my mom left, we wanted to take her somewhere that was special for the Bakersfield area. We decided we would go to one of the farms in the area, since Bakersfield is a huge agricultural area for the US.

We had such a good time. They had all of their fruit available to taste for free. It was so yummy we came home with a few bags of fruit. Then we decided to take a hay ride around the farm.

Here is Lily picking out her seat on the hay ride. She was ready for it to start.

Me and Lily

Along with way, you could stop and pick fresh strawberries.

She loved picking them herself.

She REALLY enjoyed eating them!

They have a large kids area, so Lily found a cow to ride on.

Still eating strawberries.

Strawberry juice stained face.

I can't believe how much fun we have. I'm so glad we can go get fresh fruit! We have already been back again. I can't wait until more of their fruit is in season.

Typical Girl

Lily has turned into such a girl! She loves to talk on the phone. The best part is she will wander all of the house talking AND she uses her hands when she talks. My mom came out to help us unpack right after we got here, and we both got cute pictures of Lily talking on the phone with Auntie Ashlee.

We also got Lily some sprinklers for the backyard. The grass here is so soft and perfect for outdoor play. Here are some pictures of her playing. She is also wearing the cute bathing suit Granny got her!

Our Adventure to California - Day 5

Kingman, AZ --> Bakersfield, CA

Last day of the drive. We didn't have anything planned, we just needed to get the keys to our new house! We didn't have to long of a drive, so we slept and got a late start on the road.

Here is the California sign. Of course this is the worst picture of the state signs that I took.
As you drive through the mountains there are hundreds of windmills. It is so neat to see. They couldn't be in a better place because it sure was windy!

We got to our house about 4:30 in the afternoon. Lily and Gracie had so much fun exploring and running around the open space.

Well we made it! I'm so glad we took this move as an opportunity to have one of the best family vacations. I know I have said it before, but our girls couldn't have behaved better. I was really worried about Lily being in a car seat for 5 days, but she was awesome! Thank goodness she loves movies because they helped a bunch. I promise to post pictures of our house, but I'm waiting to take pictures until everything is where I want it.

Our Adventure to California - Day 4

Flagstaff, AZ --> Kingman, AZ

We didn't travel particularly far on Day 4, but we got to see so much!

We started our day by heading up to the Grand Canyon. I was amazed how much snow was on the ground. It makes sense considering how cold it was out. Also, we were amazed at how beautiful Flagstaff and the area was. It looked more like Colorado than what you picture Arizona like.

After driving for 30-45 minutes we made it to the Grand Canyon. It was truly one of the most amazing things I have ever seen! Pictures don't do it justice. It was huge! One of the most shocking things was how there were steep drop off with no railings!! (they do have some railings, they just don't cover every side) I am not a fan of heights so the canyon really freaked me out. The three of us got out once to take a family picture, and after that Lily was confined to the car. It made me too nervous to have her out. David and I would take turns getting out at the stops to take pictures and film.

Here is our family picture. I am SO happy we have this. I love it! It is going to be framed in the house.

Here is the river going through it....looks so small from way up high!

When we were at the last stop at the canyon it started snowing!! I thought it was so crazy to be snowing at the end of March in the desert! But it was very cold outside, and we were very high up!

After we left the Grand Canyon we headed to a wildlife drive-thru park called Bearizona! We hadn't planned to stop here, but after seeing billboards along the way, we thought it would be a fun detour.

Gracie was thoroughly freaked out by the animals...she growled at many of them. My favorite was her growling at the black bears - not her smartest moment!

Burro

Bison

Ram

White Bison

It was beautiful there

Black bear!

Lily giving a sic ' em to the bear

The smallest little bear. He was born early that's why he was so small.

Lily playing in some snow. She liked to smoosh it.

Posing with the bear!

She realized his tongue was out, so she stuck hers out.

Posing with momma!

I'm so happy we got to see everything we did. It was a really fun day, but I do have to admit, I was glad there was only one more day of driving.
