Goin' Huntin'

After a pitiful egg hunt at the farm, we decided to go home and let Lily hunt her eggs on Saturday. Let's just say I think the whole "hiding eggs" was WAY more eventful for David and I than it was for Lily. So here's the story....


David wanted to help me hide Lily's eggs and gifts, which was fine with me. So I said, well let's run outside and hide them really quick while Lily is watching tv inside. We went out and pulled the sliding door to, and went to hide the eggs. After we were done, we went back to the door to get Lily. I tried to pull on the door and Lily had come over and locked the screen door!!!! To make matters worse, I had grabbed the house keys from David when we got home, so they were laying on the kitchen counter (not in David's pocket, where they would have been otherwise). We were freaking out! We got Lily to come over to the door, and we tried to show her how to unlock it, but all she did was try to pull on the door. Fail. So then David decided he would go to the front door and see if Lily would come to it. (side note: when we come in the house, Lily closes and locks the door - both locks.) David went to the front door, and after knocking and yelling for Lily for a few minutes, she finally walked over to the door. He told her to unlock the door, she had trouble with the doorknob lock, but thankfully she unlocked the deadbolt! David with the help of a credit card, got into the bottom lock and into the house! (note - we need better locks!) As soon as he got in the house, he let me in, and then we taught Lily how to unlock the screen door. (Now she is a pro at it, and is usually in charge of letting the dog out!)


Now that our crazy side story is over, it's now time for the hunt! We were so excited she knew exactly what to do! We didn't just put them all over the grass, we tried to make her work a bit, even though we helped point some of them out! Here is the photo diary of her hunt below!

After the egg hunt, we grilled hot dogs outside, and had an early dinner. It was so nice to sit outside on our back patio and enjoy the wonderful weather we were having. I certainly do not miss humidity! After we cleaned up from dinner we decided to dye eggs. This was quite an experience. Lily loved sticking her hand right in the dye, which made quite a mess, but thankfully it cam out with a bath! Here's some pictures of us dyeing eggs.

Easter at the Farm :(

On the Saturday before Easter we went to Murray Family Farms for an Easter egg hunt and some other activities. We have been there a couple times before to get fresh produce, but they always seem to be a bit disorganized. I honestly didn't have high expectations for this event, seeing how the rest of our experiences were, but I thought since this was a big event it may be better. Sadly, it was exactly how I expected it be, terribly disorganized.

We got there right when the egg hunt was suppose to start. They hadn't gotten all of the eggs hidden yet, so it took about 20 more minutes for it to even start. Everyone was getting antsy and crowding in on the area. Then, they made some announcement that everyone could grab 2 eggs! seriously 2!! So the hunt begins, they had no age separation so all of the big kids, and they were older than 10 or 12, all grabbed like 15 eggs. By the time Lily and the other small kids got to the area there was nothing left :( Thankfully Lily didn't really know what was going on and she was having fun walking around. Two very nice kids gave Lily an egg, so she ended up with 2 eggs at the end, which she was very excited about.

After the egg hunt, we went around to do some of the activities. They had hay rides where you could pick your own fruit, but the line was so long we decided against that. We let Lily play in the kids area, which she loved! I'm happy she had some fun during the day because David and I were not impressed. We will still go back there for our fresh fruit, but we will not being going back for any of there "events". Here are a couple of pictures of Lily playing.

Fun in the Big Tub!

I have been hesitant on switching Lily from her baby tub to the real bath tub. I'm not sure why, I think some of it had to do with her being much less mobile in the small tub, and the fact we didn't have to use nearly as much water. Well, we finally decided to make the switch! It was funny to me how much it didn't affect Lily. She is used to being in the tub because we had the small one in it, but she never had that much space. I decided to take a few pictures of her playing in the big tub with all of her Yo Gabba Gabba friends!

Easter Presents!

We have such wonderful friends and family who thought of Lily this Easter. The first thing she received was from my parents. I skyped them while she opened it, so I didn't get any pictures. They got her some Pottery Barn bath towels that match her bathroom. They are so cute! The next thing she received was from her Great Mammy and Boompa!

I can't wait for her to wear them. The weather here has been kind of crazy! It was in the 90s last week, but it has cooled off again. Hopefully I will get some pictures of her in them soon! Thanks again!

Next my best friend, Erin, sent Lily an Easter package! She sent her a very cute Easter card, and her very own bag of M&Ms (or as Lily calls them, num nums!)

I know I've said it before, but Lily (and the rest of us) are so lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives. I it makes me so happy that they care about Lily just as much as we do!

Bakersfield Zoo

On Good Friday, we decided it would be fun to make the most of David's day off. It was such a beautiful day we decided to go to the Bakersfield Zoo. It's not a big zoo, but they have some neat animals, all of which are native to California. The zoo is a "living museum". Lily had so much fun running around!

After we left the zoo, we went to grab some dinner. It was such a nice day, and I was glad we got to enjoy and explore the area.

Lily was very tired after the zoo....when I got her out of the car she had hoof marks on her leg!
